Gordon Miller was born and raised in Winnipeg ,Manitoba, Canada and moved to Vancouver BC to attend Vancouver School of Art. In 1958 he joined CBC as a graphic designer and then later became chief designer for both the Vancouver Museum and Vancouver Maritime Museum. In 1978 he left the museums to go sailing and become a freelance architectural designer for the next forty years with commissions throughout Canada. He authored Voyages to the New World and Beyond, 2011. and has won numerous awards.
