Richard Boyer began painting at an early age, first showing his work while still attending high school in Williamsville ,New York. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1981 after five years of study under the portrait and figurative painter Alvin Gittins.
In 1981, Boyer moved Germany to study languages in Kiel where he met his Swedish wife. He was also able to travel and paint extensively throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
He and his family now live in Utah.
Richard has won numerous awards across a broad spectrum of subjects.
