Restless Sea, Spirit Sky
I cannot help myself for wanting to return to paint at familiar places in various moods with fresh eyes. This is Papailoa Beach on Oahu’s north shore (as seen before in “Shimmering Shore”) but the direction looks north this time, and the spirit is decidedly different. If you could peek around the bend, you could spy Waimea Bay in the distance.
On this day, the scene was restless and a bit rugged due to an approaching storm, yet its beauty was beguiling and pronounced. I love the abstract patterns created by the bright green seaweed-covered rocks along the shore, and the water pooling between the rocks reflecting the unsettled sky above.
